Blue Hour at Sandbanks

Prince Edward County is one of my favorite places in Ontario. Only two hours drive from Toronto and just south of Belleville, it is an ideal destination for a daytrip when you want to escape the confines of the city. It is a beautiful island that hosts events and festivals throughout the year, but is especially popular in the summer months and has steadily become a culinary destination. PEC is also home to various wineries, artisanal cheesemakers, and Sandbanks Provincial Park which is famous for its sand dunes and beaches.

One of my favorite Italian restaurants, Pomodoro, is located the small town of Wellington. Recently my foodie buddies and I drove there for a great meal, followed by a sunset near Sandbanks. We were chasing the sun but by the time we arrived at the location, the sun had already set (that dinner was just too good to rush 🙂 ). However, we still managed to get a few pictures in the fading blue hour light. This rocky shore on Lake Ontario is near one of the campsites but well away from the busy beach.
