My tour of Kyushu starts and ends in Fukuoka, the largest and most populous city on the island, and the sixth largest in Japan. This metropolis is not unlike any other in the country, with it’s sprawling shopping centers and mega department stores. It does seem a little less densely packed than Tokyo and Osaka, though – and I would think a little bit less expensive, too.
Due to the tight roadtrip schedule I didn’t spend much time wandering the city (opting instead to stay warm indoors and hunt down some Christmas sales) but here are a few photos from the streets.
