Out and About: Macau By Night

On any given weekend, downtown Macau’s party atmosphere is bursting with visitors enjoying local snacks and souvenir shopping. These normally bustling streets look very different after dark. With all the shops closed and the tourists returned to the nearby resorts and casinos, the narrow alleys and cobblestone laneways are nearly empty except for a few locals returning home from a long day’s work. This is a great time for a stroll through the city’s most renowned historical areas. Macau’s unique mix of colonial Portuguese and traditional Chinese architecture is especially vibrant with evening lighting.

Here are a few photos from my recent visit – a walk through the quiet historical town centre.
