Barnet Marine Park is located on at the site of a former logging community along the south shore of Burrard Inlet. It is the only salt-water beach in Burnaby, and is a popular hiking and swimming destination. After spending a day wandering downtown Vancouver, we took a stroll in the park and were treated by Mother Nature to a glorious sunset.
Barnet used to be the center of a thriving logging community, and the center of the park still contains remnants of the old lumber mill, including the mill’s scrap burner. The remains of the old wharf and pier can also be seen in the water.
