Dawn is the proprietor of Dawn’s Closet, a small clothing shop in Smiths Falls. She gave me a little history of the building and courtyard (it used to be the town bakery). Having been in the area for most of her life, she remembers fondly the smell of freshly baked bread coming from this bakery – one of the most vivid memories from her childhood.
She was really pleased that I drove all the way from Toronto to take part in the Doors Open event. She visited her aunt in Toronto in the Ossington area quite often (well before it got all hip and trendy); seems like my visit brought back some good memories for her, which I liked 🙂
Dawn is very active in Smiths Falls – she’s also a member of the town council.
She was wearing a very pretty, old fashioned dress. I thought it suited her perfectly, and her face had great character. I think her portrait reflects that.
